  • Jeremiah Burch

Thanks. got yourself some good action ones. Were they at a training facility or real structure fires
  • Jim

    COOL

With the interest you have in the Junior or Exployer Programs, you might be interested in a document North Carolina is using with these programs. It is in pdf and a nuimber of pages. It would be easier to send to you by email as an attachment. Here is my email, techrescue@earthlink.net
If you will send me an email with the request for the Junior Firefighter Program OSHA Rules document, I will be glad to send to you. Basically NC first said it was a recommendation for departments and about 6 months later they made it the policy for instructors and the community colleges for delivery of FF 1 & 2 and Rescue Technision. It says that curtain subjects are so dangerous because of there nature that these students will not be allowed to perticipate or certify in some blocks until they turn 18 years old. No respirators or be over 10 feet on a ladder or roof. Also some power tool classes. If your state has not adopted a simular status, don't be surprised if it comes. This document may give you some heads up about what some are doing out there. Stay safe, stay excited, and keep training. Best wishes, Jim
  • Jim

Also I forgot to say, you have some great pics. Jim

I understand your with a Post. I was asking if you would like to have a copy of what is occuring in NC with Junior or Exployer programs in relation to training. And the fact that they are being very dramatically stopped from doing some things here. I was just asking if you would like a copy of what has just occured so that you may be ahead of the curve of what might also happen there as attorney's have apparently gotten involved with this issue. If your not interested, thats OK too. Jim

When I was 16 I was spending my summers at a place called Lake Junaluska Assembly. It is a convention center for the Methodist Church and my father is a minister. Got to know the security guys who were Sheriff's Deputies. It was exciting to here there stories and ride with them eventually. That led to joining the local fire dept. Stayed with it since 1973. Became an instructor in 1996 and have taught in 5 states since. I don't have any kids and kind of consider the young folks I teach as my own. I enjoy passing the knowledge I have been lucky and successful to learn onto them and hopefully keep them safe for a long career, the same as I have had. Also I don't wish bad on anyone, but if it happens, let me be there in their time of need. It gives satisfaction knowing that I am able to give help in a calm way that others just aren't prepaired to handle. What got you started with the dream originally.? Jim
  • Jeremiah Burch

Nice. Our training center is friggin small and we're not really aloud to use it because of some Political BS between our town and the other that the training center is in. I don't understand it and neither do most of the guys on the other Fire dept.
  • Jim

You go girl. Don't ever let anyone steal your dream. Work hard and have fun doing it ! Stay safe. Jim
  • Jim

Good question. My first thought, is your pulse high? If so, why? Other wise I have been an EMT for almost 30 years, and I don't have a clue. If it's rescue, I can probably tell you, otherwise who knows. Take care. Jim

Hi, I'm sorry I haven't replyed to you. I have been off line for several days. Just read your comments. Sorry you hasd this problem. I hope you have soken with your doctor, if not you need to. You diffinately need to let your officers know what is happening with your health because if something occurs they know where to start when a medic arrives. If your unconscious, they need to know what has been happening to you history wise. I hope your doing much better. Take care. Jim
  • Tyler Staicoff 670

yea i was there...u can see my dept in pic 32 on that slide show
  • Fire medic 206

Yes they do. We have a joint post with the local police department. Explorers will learn both fields.
  • Margie

Savannah, GA teamed up with the local Boy Scouts for an Explorer post. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see some photos on the event.

The turn out wasn't as high as they'd like it to be. It seems the county volunteer fire departments outside of the city have posts that are more organized at the moment.

I'm surprised for Savannah FD hosts many elementary school field trips and designates days for children, fire safety/prevention and other events.

Consider coming down for our St. Patricks Day parade and celebrations. We welcome FD from all over the country to participate. =O)
  • Jarrod Arnall
