Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I orginally wanted to be an ER nurse but decided that there was not adrenaline in there so I switched to become a Paramedic. I started my EMT-B class June 15, 2008 and I will be finished by October 6, 2008. My dream is to move to New York & become part of the United States' most renowned EMS crew. I want to be come a FDNY Paramedic!!

    The burn out rates for big city EMS is high, very few people will retire from FDNY EMS. Lots of work, little pay, Are you sure you want to pass up Nursing school to become a paramedic? Alot of the Paramedics I know are going to nursing school. The excitement of being a medic last about 5 years. As a medic, my advice would be to go to Nursing school.

    You can also test for Firefighter/Paramedic Fire Depts even more abrenaline + better pay. Good Luck !

    Hey Jen, Just looking around and found your profile on how you want to move to NY. I thought about moving up there and that is about as far as i went with it.
