Thanks. She ended up only giving us one. She said we'll have the other one next week. I still have a test in math in 30 minutes, but I don't think I'll have a problem with that.
Yeah, I know how that goes. I've been out of the state for the last 2 big fires we've had. The first one was a house fire where 2 people died, and I was in Florida. The other one was a lumber yard burnt down and I was 4 hours away for the weekend. It was so annoying. We haven't really had anything major this year besides those. Why was he riding with you? And I'm glad you're doing better :)

    Daniel,
No problem, Where I worked a few started a Pipes And Drums and sound really good. I wanted to play the pipes but cant put the time in. go to youtube and type in DCFD Pipes & Drums to hear some of there work. My favorite is the Lion King theme. Sounds cool on the pipes!!
    Floyd
  • Kasey

Thats awesome...I wish I was friends with a famous person haha. But that is cool that you do ride alongs. I don't think we have stuff like that around here, but the city might and I just don't know about it. I think I did good on the math test. There was one problem that took me about 20 minutes to figure out, but I finally got it I hope. I have a 98 average in the computer class I'm in now so thats good :)
We were called to a wreck Sunday afternoon. The woman went to the hospital, but she didn't seem to be hurt all that bad. Her hand was cut up, and her shoulder was really sore from the seatbelt, but she was walking around. Then Sunday night we had a tobacco barn fire. It was on my road but about 6 miles down. My dad has his own fire truck that he uses on the farm for water, but occasionally he'll take it to a fire if it would be closer for him to do that than to go to the station and get a truck, so he took it to that fire and was the second truck there. It destroyed that barn but somehow it didn't catch the barn that was about a foot away on fire.
I also got my EVOC license on Sunday (I don't know if you have that there, but if you don't its the license to drive the firetrucks). I took the class a month ago, but just got the license on Sunday. I was very anxious to get it haha.
Hope you have a good day.
  • Kasey

I'm out in a rural area. Sunday was actually a really busy day for us. We usually average about 2 calls a week. We were called to a possible house fire this morning, but it was just a wood furnace that had some kind of problem so there was no fire. Its like I'm glad that somebody didn't lose everything they own...but yet I'm really let down that it wasn't a fire. Oh well. We'll have a big one one day I'm sure.
We don't have any highways, like I said we're really rural. We even have a couple of gravel roads haha. We still have people wrecking that I'm sure are going at least 80-90.
  • Floyd Aldridge Jr

    Daniel,
Got the patches today. I have been dealing with my sick dad. I will get ya some patches out as soon as I can!!
  • Kasey

Have you had any good calls the past week? All we've had since last Sunday is a couple of EMS calls.
Our department shares a parking lot with a church, and on Halloween night the church is having a trunk-or-treat (where the kids walk around the parking lot and get candy out of the trunks of cars) so we're going to pull all of our trucks out of the station and turn on the emergency lights and let the kids get candy out of the trucks. That should be a lot of fun.
Hope things are going well for you!
  • Kasey

haha that sounds like a lot of fun. We have some people like that in our area, but they all live in mobile homes, so the only steps we have to worry about are the 4 from the ground to the door. We mostly have problems with having room to get everybody in the house, cause the houses are all small and cluttered and 10 family members want to be in the middle of everything, so if you take a step you crash into something or somebody. We actually have one house that we get called to occasionally, I couldn't tell you how many people live there cause theres always some different people there, but theres 3 people there that have to be at least 500 pounds. If you step anywhere on that floor thats not a support beam it bends under you and you think you're gonna fall through the floor just cause its so fatigued from them walking on it.
Yeah I'm really excited about tomorrow night. This whole weekend is going to revolve around the department. I've got that tomorrow, then Saturday we're moving a storage building to make room for a new addition to the station, then Sunday night we have a meeting where we're gonna vote on Firefighter and EMS person of the year, and on the officers for next year, as well as discuss some fundraisers that are coming up this month. We'll be cooking a stew on the 22nd, then having a Tree of Lights ceremony the next Sunday (where people pay $5 to have a bulb put on a Christmas tree in honor or memory of someone).
  • Leo Cartwright

Thanks Daniel, I didn't expect you to receive the patch the quick, it just adds a little faith in the postal system doesn't it. Looking forward to receiving yours.
    Stay Safe out there
    Cheers Leo

cool i will send you some patches when i have recieved them and will send you a nswfb hat and can you send me a hat back from your department when you have recieved the stuff in the mail to you stay safe
  • Kasey

I did have fun Friday night. The kids really enjoyed getting to trick or treat from the firetrucks haha.
I think we need to get a special rescue. We just have 2-5 people from the fire dept, and however many come from the rescue squad.
I hope you can come here one day as well...although with us you'll be more likely to share sweet tea or mountain dew.
  • Kasey

I only got the candy that I ate out of the bowl when there wern't any kids around (probably 5 pieces), and my friends housekeeper sent me a small bag. I'm glad I didn't have anymore though cause then I'd eat it and complain about being fat.
We had a call this afternoon to a 2 year old having seizures. We got there and he wasn't having seizures anymore but he was crying and kept going to sleep. His temperature was 102, but they said it had been up to 103 earlier. Wierd thing was he had just had his 2 year checkup this morning and everything was fine, and he didn't get any shots to be having a reaction to. He's related to one of the guys that went on the call, and the guy loves him to death so I'm hoping he's ok.
I love Mountain Dew too. I used to like Mello Yello, but then I didn't drink it for a while when I went on a diet and now I can barely drink it. Do you not like tea?
  • Kasey

Thats good that its no permanent damage. I hate calls where kids are invovled.
I'm addicted to sweet tea. I went to Washington DC a few years ago, and all they have is unsweet. After about the 5th day I ended up going to a convenience store and getting a bottle of Lipton sweet tea cause I was craving it so bad.
Haha, I'm sorry, I'm sure you can find some candy on clearance somewhere. Then you'd have more than me :)
  • Floyd Aldridge Jr

    Dan,
I have not forgotten ya bro. My dad passed away on Oct 26 and be buried him on Nov1st. We had to bring him home before the ground froze in Upstate New York. But I will send ya the patches when I get one more for ya. Ok!! Floyd
  • Floyd Aldridge Jr

    Dan,
Thanks for understanding and thanks for being a friend!!
    Floyd
  • Kasey

I haven't heard anything on him yet, but I'm sure I will tomorrow.
All the candy that I've seen on clearance is the nasty stuff that nobody would take if it was free.
    The sweeter the better haha
  • DoubleH..Harry

    Hi Daniel
Thanks for the add and welcome to the nation!
I'll check around the station for a patch...........not sure how many we have, and we don't have any more of the ones I use for my avatar.Harry
  • Kasey

He was at church Sunday and seemed very happy.
I guess any of it will make your teeth fall out eventually haha. I hate celery. I'll stick to potatoes :)
Sunday me and 2 guys from the department had taken our main pumper to the city (20 miles away) for a veterans day parade. I was riding on top of the truck being pretty, and out department was called to a house fire. We pulled onto a side street and I got in the cab, but by the time we got back the fire was out. It was depressing. Yesterday we were called to a wreck where a car had run into the back of a school bus. No one was hurt, but the guy was really lucky he was wearing his seat belt. He went under the bus up to his windshield.
