Why I Joined Fire/EMS
There is a long tradition of firefighting in my family. I'm sure my father was upset when he had two daughters, because at the time when I was born, there was no such thing as a female firefighter. Well now there is. And I can tell that my daddy is so proud of his little girl!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
...fighting fire!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
SAFETY! Way too many firefighters are dying on the job/on the way to the job for preventable reason.

    Hi nice to add you
  • Randy Macey

Check out Roll Call Groups and put some info about your Fire House in... Like to hear what your station is like, what you have as well as for number for firefighters as well as number of calls. Pass it around to your Firefighter Friends too....Easy way to located this group is go to my site and look at the bottom left. Short cut if you have a hard time locating this.

Also as a Training Officer, theres the Trainers Corner too. Like to hear some of what your doing for training or what areas need to be addressed...

    Enjoy, and stay safe!

they have all kinds pink,ty dye, lime green, spiderman, the color does not hurt the hood it's just like if you buy different color turn out gear my friend bought me a spiderman one and i was wearing it in a structural burn class got so hot that my shield and mic started to bubble so it must work okay did not get burned.
  • turk182

I do not see why as ong as it meets nfpa standards unless you have a uniform code in my station i have a spiderman one look at my picture you can see it. some of my fire fighters have different ones they have, pimk, tye dye, lime green. i do not know why the would disapprove. the fireifighter to my right is the one with the pink one.
  • turk182

so what does that say about firefighters with yellow gear. I thought the person made the firefighter not what they wear
  • turk182

hey if you want one and your chief says it's okay get one don't let other people bother you.

  • Kurt Kamm

Hey Sandy113- I just joined the website and saw the back page about favorite firefighter books. I live in Malibu, spent 3 years with LACoFD and CalFire preparing a novel about a boy who comes of age as a wildland firefighter at a helitak camp (Camp 8 LA County). The book has been well received and Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman of the LACoFD liked it enough to send it to the County Board of Supervisors.
Perhaps you would enjoy reading it. The title is One Foot In the Black. You can buy it on Amazon or, if you buy it from the online store of the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, they get the profits. http://wffoundation.org/webstore/index.html.
You can see reviews from firefighters on my website
    http://www.kurtkamm.com
Let me know what you think of it.
Thanks, stay safe – Kurt Kamm
