Why I Joined Fire/EMS: My grandpa was a Capt with Garfiled County Fire Dist #1 for many years before he passed away, when I was very young. So When I was 17 I joined the same dept that he was on. Alot of the guys that were on when I joined was on when he was on. They would tell me stories of some of the things he did or would do. I guess he was a big stickler on having the higbees lined up just prefectly. So I have been going strong since then. My cousin also was a firefighter for many years. So as they say its in the blood.
Why I Love Fire/EMS: Helping other people and the satisfaction that you get when you know you just helped someone out.

I am good thx for asking. We had a tramatic week. Had a really bad house fire and lost someone to it she was about 80 years old and the call wasnt put out in time. Its sad but like everyone has told me it happens. Other than that its been ok.

Hi Danny,
Sorry to be such a stranger. They're actually making me earn my keep lately. lol Just last week we sold two water tenders, bought a new one and test drove an engine in Stanfield that I want. Been busy but it's a good busy.
I'm getting ready to head back to the National Fire Academy in a couple weeks. Okay, I guess it's more like a month, mid Feb but they give you prehomework so that's why it feels so close.
How are you handling all this warm tropical weather we're having?
It was -3* in Helix this morning! And thats not counting the windchill! Brrrrrrrr!!!! Mexico is sound marvelous right now. lol

It blew all around us. I called several residents just to check around the district and everyone was weathering the wind just fine. Even the Sheriffs office called that evening just checking on Helix because it was the only community that hadn't called for assistance all day. No news was good news. How about you guys? You were probably far enough west to miss most of the bad winds along the Blues. ???

Been in Idaho Falls for past week or so for a wedding in the family. Snowing here everyday, they must have pushing 3 feet on the front lawns. the city just finished getting the main roads done and has now started on the neighborhoods, but WOW is there snow. Been looking at the weather to plan the trip back, looks like Saturday will be the day to travel (hope, hope). Walking now on the new knee, feels great, doctor okied me to start working out on a daily basis to lose the lbs and get the leg stronger. Will go back to work in May June time frame. Working will be so nice, this STD stuff can wear you down.

thermo gel works great as long as you can wet line, handline or place a dozer line within 30 minutes of its application. it is applied directly on the flame front were as retardant is placed ahead of the flame front.

My week has been ok so far. Busy as usual. Right now my dept is getting people ready to go to North Bend next weekend so there has been plenty to do. They are all new recruits some from other depts. that came our way wanting some training they don't feel they have been getting within their own.

We are in the last 2 weeks of an EMT class that we are hosting, and things have been flat out! Plus we had a really bad (good?) MVC this weekend that blocked off Hwy 7 for about 3 or 4 hours.. YIKES!! But we had a GREAT extrication! EMT's & Medics working side by side perfectly, and Airlift... ya, the whole bit!
And the best part, after the extrication of course, was the guy is fine! Great, in fact! Thats the BEST part! I love doing this!
I hope you had a nice weekend. It was quite lovely over on this side of the mountains, sunny and beautiful! SPRING FEVER!!!

went back to work, light duty, so they said,lol.... but we all know how that works. Worked last weekend, then off mon n tues, then back I went to fire house Thurs,*awesome calls, actually got our butts blown off our feet,lol**, then rescue/fire on Friday, then ems Saturday, to say the least, I am pooped,lol. All just to return on Monday and start another 72 hour shift again, grrrrr,lol. I love it though, so cant complain too much, just some sleep here n there would be great, hahahaha, what a dream huh?lol.
So dear, how have things been for you? Please be safe LT...as I care.....*hugs*
P.S. Love the music selection, I stayed a bit longer just to listen,lol
