Why I Joined Fire/EMS: To tell you the truth, they talked me in to it. I really was not sure about the whole thing, started in a ECA class,and that led into Basic. Now i have been in this "crazy "world for 14 years. I would not trade it for anything,it is such a rewarding thing to me. I still get that rush when the tones drop

No snow for awhile. We may not break the record. We're .1 of an inch short as of the last snow. We could het some in May and that would still count though:( Otherwise really sunny with no wind. If it gets too hot too fast we'll have a lot of flooding so we're kind of screwed either way. Hope things at the Golf Course are going good.

Nothing going on at work since I've been on 6 days off. One vacation and my regular 4 days. Going back tonight for an all dept. training session then back on duty tuesday. Weather was sunny for the weekend but crappy today with snow showers. I'll get home at 9:30, have a Guiness, watch the news and go to bed. I live life on the edge!

HEY SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO GET BACK TO YA. I'M ON PARENT DUTY WITH FOUR KIDS. BUT ANYWAY THE WEATHER HERE SUCKS ASS IT WAS 60 AND SUNNY YESTERDAY AND TODAY IT'S 30 AND SNOWING LIKE HELL. WE HAVE BEEN PRETTY SLOW AT THE STATION BUT IT'S ALWAYS SLOW THIS TIME OF YEAR.

Hi Susan, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was on vacation and just getting back into the swing of things. We actually had hot sunny weather. Took a few layers of skin off but not too painful. Good to hear the golf course is doing good.

Oh I used sunblock but I guess that's my northern european heritage haunting me. I get a little color but I'm never far from sun burn. Sorry to hear about your call. The sights, sounds and smells stick around for awhile based on my experiences. Is your Pt. still alive? Most times when the burned that bad they live awhile and then the fluid loss or subsequent infection kills them. The last burn case I had was pretty funny (after the fact). A drunk guy was burning wet brush. It was only burning a "little" when he decided to throw more gasoline on it. He was able to turn away and bend over so he only burned his butt and the backs of his legs. (it was warm and all he had on was a pair of shorts). When we got there we were met by a guy walking out of the backyard. We asked where the Pt. was because we didn't see anyone burned. The guy that met us was the Pt. He had jumped into a kids pool to put the flames out, went in the house, called us and then changed into a pair of blue jeans. Once we got him in the ambulance and cut off his pants, we saw the extent of the burns. The Doc at the ER said he was going to have a long, painful recovery. Imagine trying to sit down to do your business! We gave him a lot of morphine and that on top of the 12 pack he admitted to (1-2 cases in reality) and he tolerated things pretty well. A case for the Darwin Awards if I ever saw one.
