Small town volunteer department short handed. Seemed a good way to get to know my neighbors.

Lack of qualified volunteers.

    Same, here. I agree with ya about the old timers nholding the depts back. it's happening in my dept as well. I keep telling them it's 2007, not 1950. They don't believe we need to do anything else but put the wet stuff on the red stuff. There are a few of us on the dept that are pushing to get things we need, but it's like pushing against a brick wall. But, gotta keep trying for the community's sake. Take care & stay safe & sane!

    We have finaly got rain,been bad here also.I'm gonna pack test end of the month,if my old butt can get it done again I'll be back on the line.Didn't know you were on the injured list,hope you're healin well and alls good.By the way a long time ago I lived on the northside by Jubitz truckstop,but that was yrs ago. Guess I ought to rephrase that I had a house up there,I was out on the fireline more than there.

    I just got back from a week of holidays up north in the bush. Was with a couple of buddies as well as some family up there. Was great even though it rained most of the time. How goes it down your way?

    Thanks for the comment. I was reading your bio on the difficulty facing fire service today. I don't know much about volunteer departments but I can sympathize with the challenges.

    I LOVE your comment about older firefighters not wanting to change things! My dept. is going through that with one stubborn older volly that refuses to even think about change. Our dept started out as a fire then went to fire and rescue. We have run 400 EMS calls this year and only 28 fire call and he wants to go back to just being a fire dept because "thats how it used to be" WTF! The numbers speak for themselves I think....
