Why I Love Fire/EMS
Creating a revolution in how we do things, while celebrating traditions.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Enlightened and inspired leadership for emergency managers
Education of emergency leaders in political issues and action
Customer service in a diverse and largely unappreciative society
Getting leaders to realize that planning can be a good thing
Change will happen whether you like it or not
It's hard to explain why they closed ours doors. What it comes down to is that we don't answer all calls..... I am looking into joining another company, but it's going to be in another county. I love what I do too much to just sit and wait til the open our doors back up. If you check out our website, culpeperrescue.com you can see our last Q & A that went in the paper... and that's pretty much what people are talking about around town.
Well who knows maybe she is my "evil" twin. LOL! Thanks for the welcome, hop your week is going good. Me im lookin sooo forward to the weekend!!! Adios
Any of you trying to add me as a friend right now: it appears as if I am having browser problems keeping me from accepting your invite. When I get home tomorrow (and on another computer) I'll catch up. Promise. I see you up there, taunting me...
I'm really bad with not getting on here. My cousin was one of the Charleston Nine killed, Mark Kelsey. And I think the last five times I've been on, the first thing I've seen has been about them. It's just hard hearing about it, and seeing it all the time. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, I try to comment everyone back! Have a good weekend.
Hey Mick
Its been crazy around here, we have had a lot of rain, but little flooding in my area nothing like Dallas and up north. It has not rained here in about a week and I can just now walk in the back yard
Dealing with the heat now heat index today was 108.
Put in my Resume for Asst Chief with my Vol. Dept. will see if I get it this next week.
Family is doing good Brooklyn will be a year old next month.
Give the family a hug and kiss for me.
Thanks! Yeah it's a lot to deal with, and for it being two days before his birthday, it all sucks. We were on vacation that week. We didn't even know that Mark was one of the nine until the morning of his funeral..... by then, it was too late for us to even make it back home. But we're dealing with it, I don't think I'll ever really except it.... too many questions that don't have answers, and really I don't know if I want answers.
No not yet we have 3 of our guys who went and took the training then the former Chief wouldn't sign off on the paper work but we think the new Chief just might. Are there still openings on the team? And by the way Nice to meet you and look forward to some more discussions Doug
I would LOVE the article. We'll add it to the group! All is pretty good here. Our heat broke for two days at least, but tomorrow's supposed to be right back up in the 90s with bunches of humidity....yuck. I'm hoping training on Monday is pretty lax.
Yeah I know Eddie B and Steve. Even though I have only been active running for 5 years now I have been walking around in that fire house since I learned to walk. 3rd Generation Fire Fighter. I remember when Steve went to college at MU. I haven't heard much from him. I hear from Eddie now and again. Ed has known me since I was young.
Both of them were great guys when I knew them.
Nice to meet you too Mick. Things are just lovely in wonderful Gary Indiana. haha - We are on track for another title at the murder capitol again this year. We've been kind of slow for fire the last couple weeks though. It’s a good thing with all this heat we've been having.
Next time you’re passing through Gary on your way to South Bend stop by the fire house. My station is just off the Indiana Toll Road.
Hey Brother...glad you liked the page! Not bad for a yankee huh? Anything you see is yours for the stealing. Oh, and if I could get Guinness to flow from the monitor I'd probablt never leave my desk!
ahh it's a quint. we run as an engine in our first due, and a second ladder elsewhere. it's kind of a hybrid responsibility I guess, doing both truck and hose work!
eh, its not your fault..i looked at the wrong line. I read your hometown, not your current location. My girlfriend just left and my mind is a little distracted lol. so how are things in SC? lol
Mick,
Great idea for a group. Longtime truckie from Baltimore County LOVES it. We always joke about being at optimum response profile when quarters is empty except us.

I recommented on your forum post, I will keep posting to keep it near the top so we get more lengthy discussion on it. Its a great post as most of yours are.
Thanks for the note on the supplee post. I try to keep my criticisms and such to minimum, but some things must be said. Driving problems and not wearing seatbelts tend to get me going pretty quickly.
Hope all is well, sounds like a great job and career you've maintained by looking at your info. How I'd love to do all that!
LOL everything is going good. Might have a couple of EMS companys in the Austin area that id be workin for. Its hot and humid in CC so what else is new! Austin is nice and hot BUT not humid. We've had a couple of good structures and a bad MVA.
doing good down here, have had a lot of rain, but it has made me a lot of MONEY. But a lot of hours also.
hows it going on your side.
Was in Corpus Christi on a Truck roll over last week, they have had some rain and heat.
Now in a Plant cleaning up a 21,000 gallon Amine spill.
The fun nevers stops
Thats cool. We acctually have a drill at Boeing in a couple of weeks. This is a pretty cool site I haven't really had a chance to do much with it. Its nice to meet you stay in touch, see Ya!
Hi Mick,
Yes it usually does work the other way around, but I didn't go to the academy until I was 37, I was kinda to old for a paid position down in Florida. So here I am :) and loving every minute of it.
Yeah, of course I like to break stuff!
However, the station that I am at houses an Engine, Rescue, and Ladder. We rotate between all three rigs. Which one my favorite is, I have yet to choose. But I have always loved truck work.
thanks for the add!! stay safe! have a great week! thanks for helping during katrina!! your help meant alot to our parish! what district does rusty work for? im with district 12 in covington!
