My entire family is involved in the Fire Department and I joined as soon as I was old enough to become a junior firefighter. I have a lot of fun gaining experience and learning everything in all the classes I've taken so far - the fire department is a huge part of my life and I couldn't imagine not being involved.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
the adrenaline rush and a job well done.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
People who don't appreciate enough. It doesn't matter what race or sex you are, or whether you're volunteer or career. Everyone involved risks their asses to save someone else's, and should ALL be appreciated.
Hi sara, I'm Buz and jealous. I peaked at your pics, we haven't done any survival training like what you got in those pics. We live in a small town and dont have junior members so my 16 yr old son (J.C.) say's "If she can join, why can't I." What a whinner! Lol
This Junior Firefighter thing is kind a new to me.
What is the training like from where you are.
We are starting another new recruit class next month with 12. They will go through 6 weeks of training for there first module. Then have to complete there CPR, Defib. & EMR training.
After that they will be sent to there fire halls and
return back in the spring for a second course.
At which time they will have cont. training at there
hall by there Trainers.
Wow, thats a little different than what we do... Of course we have the new recruit classes. But after that we have two trainings a month in our station.
As the training officer I have to cover so much material each year. We do mostly class room in the winter months. For up here it's about 9 months, no just joking. We are getting more and more into power points. There is a really cool program online you can get and it's free for training. More so for the older guys who think they are god. You take a picture and add smoke and flames. So what you do is drive around town take pictures of places you know and then on your computer add smoke and flames. Two things, it's almost like a pre-planning.

lol yea i know the felling. we have a lumber store rate behind are fire department and we run a false trip at least once a week there. how many calls a year do you guys run?
Check out Roll Call Forum and put some info about your Fire House in... Like to hear what your station is like, what you have as well as for number for firefighters as well as number of calls. Pass it around to your Firefighter Friends too....
