We are about 40 strong and I,m one of the newest members.Nothing quite like the feeling of belonging that comes with being a member of a group that does so much while asking for so little.

Hey everyone, Thanks for allowing me to be part of your group. I am a lifetime member of the Shinglehouse Vol. Fire Dept. (Station 39) in Potter County, Pa. We cover approx. 450 square miles in our district along with mutual aid with the surrounding departments. Since we are close to the New York state line we do mutual aid there also. We average about 370 Ambulance calls per/yr and 75 Fire calls per/yr.
We have 2 engines,( one being our Mini attack pumper which also carries our rescue tools for MVA's ), 1 tanker/pumper, 1 rescue, 2 brush trucks, 1 rescue Kubota for land rescues and wildfires, and 2 ambulances.
A lot of the area we cover is rural.
This year starting out we have had more mutual aid calls than our own I believe. We just had our big wildfire that was in the woods last weekend, approx. 67 acres. Almost got a water drop but got called off. Nothing like the guys down in S.C. though!! Praying for you guys down there. Well enough of me. Have a great weekend and stay safe!!

We have a great fire dept in our little town of Otisco,NY....A group of well trained guys ...We're pro active on keeping up with the latest tech. that we can afford, and utilize our manpower well... We have 5" delivery line, and 2" attack lines...Mounted deck guns, and fast an efficient tankers(Water Tenders) ...Very good at the accountability system.....
My dad was a fireman, and when I was little the fire siren would ring, and my mom would call about 8 fireman on her call list, which about 8 more women did the same ...we had only about 3 or four plectrons around and those woman would call the others so they could call the men out...wow what a process...I was little then, and rode with my dad to calls...As I got old enough to join. I couldn't wait to get in and learn all I could. I took class after class, and drill after drill..I even was in when we could ride the tailbord for about 2 years before that ended...28 years later here I am still loving to help people, and still learning...My heart still pounds when the pager takes off.....Get dedicated everyone, and have a fun, and safe journey...Enjoy the high of the fire service..and rock on...Put the wet stuff on the red stuff....Well sometimes that is....Take care, stay safe, and Godbless....My brothers and sister...TTYS..JD Otisco Fire

Hey to all from Ecru, Mississippi. We are 23 strong all volunteer, run 1 class A engine 2 reserve engines, 1 wildland/ems unit and have a polaris ranger for SAR, and wildland fires. We run about 150 calls per year.
Hey from Bellevue PA. 23 strong on the active volunteer side. (3 paid guys as well). For being a small town (1 sq. mile) we run 350+ fire calls a year. We recently started a QRS program, and that call volume is steadily increasing as well. We run an engine, a truck, a rescue, and a squad. Aside from our borough, we respond to several neighboring communities as first due truck.
Hey guys im from New Florence, Pa which is one mile in all directions Last year we made 205 calls which isnt bad for a small town so far this year we are up to 65
Hell, I know right where you're at, Shane! I go right through New Florence on my way to deer camp, and when I go to Pepsi Roadhouse. Nice little town. I'm just across the state line from Hookstown.
Hi everyone!! Glad to be part of this group.... as small community services we are facing some different chalenges...
I'm in St-Marc-sur-Richelieu, Qc...
Hi I'm form a small Texas town where US 87 and US 83 come together right down town. We make alot of Grass fires and MVA not to many house fires. Have about 15 guys on the Dept.
I'm from a small rual fire dept. I'm on 2 different departments,Lenore and Chattaroy both departments have about 15-20 members each. We do your besh to answer the call when it comes in after all, ITS A FEW SERVING MANY where I'm from. Terry Hall, Mingo Co. WV
I'm from a volunteer Dept on the eastern plains of CO. We have about 25 members, lots of medical calls, but hello grass fire season! I just wish it would quit raining, so the lightning would do something. I'm the 1st female Captain ever on our Dept. Used to be the "good ole boys" club. They've adjusted amazingly well in the last 10 years. Great bunch of people to work & live with!
im from candor,ny we have a small but close membership. he only get on average about 100 calls a year for the fire dept., our emergency squad is separate. in think that because there is such a small group of us that is constantly involved with all of the activities, training and what not, it just brings the whole dept. together closer as a family.
Candor, I know Candor been there ..small little town just outside Ithaca...Just had a parade couple weeks ago..Love the author on the BicycleHave to stop and see you guy's sometime..Write me Tiffanie
wow its a small world! thats cool! not many people have even heard about candor. i willl keep u uodated on fire station activities...we will be starting our pancake brkf. in the fall stop by and join us it would be great to share stories and talk about the new firefighting gadgets and happenings!

My hometown -- Brookville, PA, population 4,500 -- is planning a 3-day celebration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its volunteer fire department. It will be held September 17-18-19 of 2009, and we want to make it something really special, despite a limited budget. We're trying to get as many congratulatory cards and letters for the department as we can. If anyone would like to send one, here's the address: Brookville Volunteer Fire Company, 240 Madison Avenue, Brookville, PA 15825, ATTN: Century Committee.
