Scott-just a post on training ideas. I am going to try a drill with our Honor Guard to brush up on the basics. This is a team building style of drill. It's called the Lighthouse Drill. you take 3 people and have them stationed around the bay or parking lot ( they are the lighthouses ). One person gives verbal orders/directions to a blindfolded person using drill commands while the blindfolded person navigates through an obstacle course ( cones, etc. - whatever you choose ). The person giving commands directs the bindfolded person to each of the Lighthouse and they pick up a item from each lighthouse ( candy, tool, etc. ) the only person allowed to give directions is the command person, but Lighthouse people can give encouragement after they have been found. This drill enforces good listening skills, everyone gets to try their hand at giving commands-reinforcing the ability to lead if needed. Just an idea.
does anyone have any training videos of honor guard using rifles, pikes, sabers, and axes? i wouldlike to use them in training the honor guard unit. emails may be sent to firerescueinstructor@hotmail.com. any information will be greatly appreciated.
