LANDOVER, Md. -- 9NEWS NOW has learned the chief of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department has been suspended. Sources confirm the suspension is part of the disciplinary action announced Sunday night by the board of directors of the Prince George's County fire company.

A statement released by Kentland calls the actions of its members inexcusable. Specifically the statement is referring to videos from 2003 and 2004 that were leaked to the news media.

We are Public Servants. What we do in, around, or on the way to and from the fire house is open to public scrunity at all hours of the day and night. Yes we pull pranks on each other from time to time, but our gear, our trucks, our stations are all owned by the PUBLIC, not us, and it all should be treated as such.

Whether or not anyone or anything was hurt, damaged, or injured during all this, the questions remain. What if someone had been struck by the fireworks and blinded? What if there had been a fire as a result of something in the station catching fire from this? What if someone has slipped and split their head open and DIED or became disabled? (and dont tell me it cant happen, I destroyed my knee from nailing the concrete after running from a mouse trap thrown at my crotch) What if a CIVILIAN had walked in or by and been struck by the fireworks???

No one thinks about things like this until AFTER the fact and something has happened. Saying "I'm sorry" doesn't replace a lost eye, finger, hand, leg, or a loved one. If you want to make another Jackass movie, do it AWAY from the fire house... but make sure you have someone with a phone to call 911 WHEN you get hurt.

Paid or Volunteer, We are ALL PROFESSIONALS and Public Servants... and if you arent, then you are in the wrong business, get out and get a job out of the public eye.

ah, the kentland Boys.....Guess fox was kinda slow on stories so they had to lead a smear campaign on the fire service. Seriously, what good can they expect to come out of this(FOX)?
