Multiple calls and smoke from a distance were indicators that Shrewsbury firefighters would be going to work. Upon arrival, heavy fire was venting from several 1st floor windows.

Due to the intensity of the fire, exterior operations were initiated and a 2nd alarm was called. The fire was brought under control in about an hour.

Icy conditions, temperature in the teens and a few feet of snow on the ground hampered firefighting efforts.
