Our fallen brother
Brothers and Sisters,
please pray for our fallen brother and his family. we just lost a 25+ year veteran yesterday.
Lt. R. Best (firehouse 74 C shift) noticed he had lost almost 40lbs in a week. he went to his doc and they found a large mass in one of his lungs. they biopsied it and he was awaiting the results when on monday night he became sob and went to the ed.
they rushed him to emergency surgery and suctioned over 2000cc of fluid from his lungs. they also removed the mass. Lt. Best coded while in surgery and was revived, sadly yesterday morning he coded again and they were unable to get him back.
we are awaiting the autopsy results, but it is expected his passing will be ruled a LODD due to contracting lung cancer on the job.
lt. best's passing has hit us hard and expectantly. Please pray for his family in their time of need. we expect the services to be this sat and he will be honored with full fire dept honors.

may god be near you all as are brother & sister it is still a loss to us all as a family but he will never be forgotten as long as he is in all of are hearts may god watch over him and all in his dept so sorry for your loss your brother in Greenup IL bless you all

thaank you for the kind words an prayers. lt.best will have a firemans funeral on saturday and we hope to honor our brother the only way we know how.
