Take some time to read these articles from FireRescue Magazine by contributors Kevin Milan of South Metro Fire Rescue Authority (CO) and Matt Tobia of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (MD) on using fireground videos for training. There is a lot of good advice in each.

We've used several YouTube submissions in training classes. We usually pair them up with Essentials or Fundamentals videos showing the "right way" to do things. I agree that we must be careful what we put out there for all to see and applaud those willing to share when appropriate. Sometimes videos posted are created by bystanders and the content is not under the local department's control. Those might be embarrassing in some cases, but serve as valuable training tools.

We will continue to look for YouTube content when classes can benefit from visuals.

I have and will use some clips to enhance a training point on tactics or activities on the fireground. As Norm stated, if we use "common sense" or sometimes intelligence about what we post, then we as a whole can benefit from the clips.
