So I am a LT on a Volunteer dept and have just been diagnosed by Dr. with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I have been on the dept for seven years and as we all have... have been through some memorable calls. I actually got on the dept after losing my 7 year old daughter to a car accident and now my Dr is recommending that i take a long look in the mirror and decide what is best for me. and of course they put me on some medicine. Does anyone out there have any experience with this? it is tough to reach out like this, but in the end arent we all brothers and sisters??
Yes, we are all part of a universal brotherhood and I applaud your courage. I am fortunate and blessed to not have ever been diagnosed with your condition but you have my utmost respect and support. If there is anything that I can do to help, please do not hesitate to ask.
Hey Shrop, I left you a comment on your page. I lost a 2 year old son to a disease, and I have been diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. I can lend an ear if you need to. Shoot me a message or email. Hang tough brother, we all get by with a little help from our brothers/sisters.

Thank you for your response. i have really had it weighing on my mind to turn in my gear and try to focus on me and this disorder. It truly sucks to deal with. i will look atmy page and contact you.
There are more Firefighters, Officers and Chiefs with this diagnosis than most of us probably realize. Fortunately, with the right medication, they can live a normal and productive life. Don't be discouraged! There are many like you out there.
Do what you feel is best right now for you and your family! Very sorry for the loss of your child in that accident and very thankful for your years of service. Right now you need to decide whats gonna be better way to deal with this. Wish you the best with your decision.
