Ok now I'm sure all of us are aware that there are firehouses out there that have bars. Personally, as long as extra precautions are taken to ensure that firefighters aren't responding when they've been drinking at the bar I don't see a big problem with it. But what happens when other problems outside the firefighting realm start happening at these bars? Things like bar fights... or illegal gambling... etc. What do you think punishment should be for these things? Should they be fined? Their liquor liscence suspended? After a certain number of offenses should the bar have to be shut down permanantly (even if it is their main source of income)? Just wanted some opinions.

most of the time its members only but sometimes they'll have public events
I've never heard of such a thing. I have heard of some places where they drink at the firehall in a designated area which I am not in support of (sorry). Having a license and selling booze to the public, definitely not something I have seen, although I have heard that a department of volunteers in Newfoundland quit because the Mayor told them no more booze in the halls.
I say clean it up, and yes if there's trouble they should be fined and made to meet the standards of any other licensed establishment. I wouldn't think any fire department in this day and age would want that hassle or headache. Drink at home or the local watering hole.
I think Gary FD still has it in their hand book that 1 ration of wine or 2 rations of beer with dinner is permissible. I guess they know their limits...
