Does anyone besides me wish they would re-make the old TV series Emergency! as a modern TV show?

Don't get me wrong, I love Rescue Me, and liked Thrid Watch, but I can't watch them with my kids. I think if Emergency was remade with today's firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics are the basis, a more family-friendly yet realistic, action-packed and inspiring show could be produced.

If it was done well, I'm sure every firefighter in the Country would want their family to watch, and inspire the next generation of Firefighters and Medics.

Times change, and what was cutting-edge in the 1970's is kind of Hokie by today's standards. I think there's still enough of us Fans of Roy & Johnnie out there who would like to see it remade with modern cameras, good scripts and realistic firefighting action.

I thought that was why we were all watching "Rescue Me" ?
:-P

I LIVED for each new "Emergency" episode.....my sisters and I would fight like cats and dogs over the channels...
i miss the show.. i belive it was a good invite to younger viewers to inspire them into the life of firefightes and emt . mabe we need a new show to help the small stations who suffer low volunteer
replacement .
Although I enjoy Third Watch, I've never seen it as a remake of Emergency!. It does share many of the same elements, such as Paramedics, a Hospital and Firefighters, but remains focused primarily on the Police. When i view Thrid Watch, it is really "just another program about the NYPD."

I also like Rescue Me, but while it is set in the FDNY, it isn't really about firefighting. It is about the character, Tommy Gavin, who happens to be a NY Firefighter. I hope we can agree that it doesn't paint the brightest picture of who Firefighters are!

Also, while I don't think a remake of Emergency! would HAVE to be set in the L.A. County FD, I think there are plenty of busy Fire Departments other than New York, Bostan, Chicago and Balitmore to make a program about! I know and understand those cities are where most of our American Firefighting tradition originated and are perhaps strongest, but I think stories of Western Firefighters in Cities such as Seattle, San Francisco, yes L.A., Phoenix, San Antonio, or even cities like Duluth, St. Paul, Cleveland or St. Louis can entertain and inform just a well, as those older cities! Plus the show wouldn't get lost among the crowd of NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, Rescue Me, Third Watches all set in New York.

Just my opinion...

I've got the whole series on VHS, I'd love to have it on DVD though!
I for one wish they would re-make Emergency! ONLY this time try doing it from the VOLUNTEER point-of view. I think the vollies deserve that much recognition. I don't see WHY it couldn't work. There are PLENTY of story-lines that could be used, and it wouldn't have to be far-fetched either. I wish I had the resources or knew how to pitch the idea. Anybody else agree/ disagree?????
There could also be a sitcom set in a Firehouse. There are tons of funny situations in every firehouse...certainly enough for a few season's worth of shows!
