Hi all, been surfing the site for a while now, figured it was time I introduce myself. Name is Dave (as if my user name didn't specify this already...lol). At 37 years old I am currently a probationary member of Ridgely Volunteer Fire Dept. on the Eastern Shore of MD. Attending Firefighter 1 classes until April 2011. Joined the fire service for several reasons. I grew up here, and other than a short 13 year stint away I've always called this small town home. I wanted to make a difference to this community, and having grown up around, and with many of the members of our dept I decided to join. I always saw the fire service as a brotherhood (and sisterhood), and wanted to be a part of that type of comeraderie. Joining the department has also boosted my self-confidence. The first time I put my turnouts on, I felt like somebody, not just another face in the crowd, so to speak. I look forward to many more years serving this community, and am hoping soon to possibly switch career paths and be accepted to a paid position elsewhere in the state.
Looking forward to interacting with you all on here, and maybe even one day on the fireground...stay safe ...
