Smog Pollution on Diesel Rigs equipped with REGEN System
Just wondering if your Department have these systems on there units? As of 2007 all new Fire Engines are equiped with a REGEN System that is to burn off excess soot from the exhaust filter. Just wondering if anyone has had problems as with units not starting or if you have not done a passive / active REGEN that the unit will shut down? Wondering during pumping operations could there be an issue if a REGEN is required? Any thoughts on this or is this new to everyone? I have attached a PPT for you to view to educate yourself if you are not aware of this system.

Emergency vehicles are suppose to have a bypass on them so that if lights are on it will not regen.

We've had ours for a few months, and it works perfectly. Haven't really pushed it yet, but so far, no drama. Also, a lot nicer when pumping - you don't stand in a cloud of smoke the whole time!

Does anyone else know on a KME what the fail safe feature is. I am not getting any answers on this. Doing a project for my department. Only 4 units in the city has this adn not all are familiar with this system.
