My young apprentice, you're not listening. As we've told you on all of your other posts thus far, talk to the people at your department. They know your policies and procedures, they know better than any of us what you're supposed to know according to your own department requirements, and can teach you what you need to know.
ok im srry im kind of stuborn lol
stubborn is good. We're all that way. Just remember, your people are there to help you succeed. They'll be hard on you so that you'll get better. They'll make you do things over and over so you remember. They'll push you hard enough to make you mad enough to spit, so that you learn to keep your mind on what you're doing, and control your emotions during high stress times. Talk to your Chief, your Officers, the other firefighters in your department. They're great sources of help
roger that Mr Koontz i been there done that for 4 years as a Jr fighter...
thank u so how can i fit in here
Go read the discussions... all 11,000 discussions if need be... tip your toes in the pool slowly...

oh yeah - join one of the groups and start with smaller discussion there too

Read and listen... maybe for a while... maybe days, maybe weeks, maybe months... and learn how people on here tick and the way they think and like to communicate...

then come back and make comments...

then you will understand better how to fit in... in a way that is easier than jumping in this deep end of the pool...

just a thought...
Never let anyone tell you there is a stupid question. But Jason is right we can't teach you alot though a screen and we don't know what your department has as fars as a equipment and procedures.
You will fit in just fine be yourself and be truthful and you will be fine.
yall are great thank u so much
The best way to fit into the fire service is to earn it. But start with your own department. Prove that you want to be there. Learn your basics well, and then practice them. The two things I always tell my new guys are:
1. Close your mouth, open your eyes and ears, and bust your tail to learn everything the more experienced crews teach you. And when they're done teaching, learn your apparatus backwards and forwards. Know where everything is on the rigs, and know it automatically.
2. Earn your place. Don't ever expect anything to be given to you.
ill remmber that
thank u
What is it you would like to know?
I agree with all the other guys here, but another good trick is to latch on to somebody in your department and start to learn from them, Officers are great but a Lieutnant or Senior Firefighter will usually be better for you because they do what you will be doing now.

Its the same as any job, keep you nose clean, work hard, listen and most of all learn your trucks. You will be fine.....
