Looking at fire company and manufacturer websites I notice more and more companies going to silver over red. Black over red has become increasily popular but I'm wondering if silver will overtake black because of visibility issues?

Still like the Green, My first assigned seat was on a old Green 2nd out engine! man it was set back in time! LOL and we have all red with white striped.
nah, still like black over red. Just looks good. Plus the silver seems to blend in with the bad weather in that picture.
I'd be happy if red was the new red.

I started on all-red apparatus and I still like it.

Needless to say, when we standardized our fleet, the two final choices were black over red or white over red.
White over red was the choice. I still like all-red the best. Old school, baby!
I'd like to see some "bizarro" apparatus; red over black, red over white...
Like Hagerstown, MD's Engine 3? White over Kelly Green over White?

Their previous C-series Mack was white over green, too. That company has an interesting history as well if you have time to look it up.

Or this Purple with flame paint job on an engine from the Phillipines?

Black engine.

White over orange rescue.

There are tons more eclectic apparatus paint jobs on Google photos and Flickr.
Nice. I've seen black before. A toen several miles to the southeast of us has an all black truck. In fact, Code 3 made a model of it.
Nice looking piece but this picture just confirmed to everyone that it snows all the time in Vermont....
Hahahaha, It doesn't snow ALL the time.......... just 11 months a year lol
Anything but red - at least predominantly - is an abomination.
I've ridden three different Mack MCs - an engine, a large tanker, and a heavy rescue and they were the most rugged apparatus I've ever ridden - and in two cases, driven.

They were also slime green, and yes, they were abominations - Nauseating abominations.
Black over red is tradition. That's the way to go. How about we add a few gray highlights fella's! Maybe some green.
Ran across these on the Grapeville FD website.
