Suspect Faces Trial Over Blast Injuring Four California Firefighters
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A Sacramento County judge has ordered a man to stand trial for allegedly setting up a gas explosion in his neighbor's house that injured four firefighters.
Forty-four-year-old Robert Durst pleaded not guilty Tuesday to six felony charges, including arson and burglary.
Sacramento police say Durst told them he was in a drunken stupor July 5 when he turned on the gas valve in the vacant house next door and lit a slow-burning candle nearby. Police say Durst was upset with the home's owners because of a financial dispute.
Four firefighters responding to the blaze were injured when the house exploded.
Durst told detectives that he wanted to cause some damage to the house but didn't think it would explode.
His trial date is set for Jan. 13.

Being drunk is NO excuse. He's lucky he's not going up for "Reckless Homicide". He better thank his lucky stars that those Firefighters made it out alive.
