SEFFNER, Fla. - Two firefighters and a neighbor who was trying to help were injured when fire destroyed a Seffner home Tuesday night.

The blaze broke out around 11 p.m. at the Davpam Mobile Home Park at Cypress Terrace and Oak Lane.

Two people inside the home managed to escape.

A man living in the mobile home had died earlier in the day from health problems. Oxygen tanks in the home belonged to him for medical purposes and posed an added danger to those fighting the fire.

One exploded and threw neighbor Glen Pemberton about 15 feet. He suffered minor injuries.

Does anyone know how this started? Strange that the elder man passed away the same day before the fire. Is this considered a red flag?
I wouldn't want to speculate but it sounds weird. Would like to know the relationship of the 2 people that escaped
really bad luck????
definitely bad timing. I have seen fires with the oxygen machines that looked like a blow torch...haven't had a tank explode on me at one thank goodness
I agree with kara-lee allen, Real bad luck.. But that's just one of the hidden dangers that FF's have to face, until it's a requirement to Placard homes. But when there's a rescue involved, try to do the best you can safely... Kudos to those FF's and GOD be with.
I wonder if the town has a program that has special needs citizens listed at the closest firehouse and dispatch center. That info could be given to dispatched companies...examples could be, blind, crippled, wheelchair bound, invalid, asthma patient, etc. ...If not, it would be a good PR move for small towns to do so
