Painted leather helmet
Hello all! I've been driving myseld nuts here the last few days looing for a particular picture that I saw awhile back but I'm having no luck. It was a picture of the bottom of someone's lid that they had painted to look like an ameican flag. I'm thinking of having my mother-in-law-to-be paint the bottom of mine in a similar manner and would just like to show her that in refrence. Thanks in advance

Bear in mind Matt that you take the chance of voiding any helmet warranties if your application is not factory approved. The wrong choice of paint can result in your flag melting and sliding down your neck. You may also want to check your department's policy on helmet paintings. Train hard stay safe brother.

Really? I am throwing the flag on this one! The paint falls off from the factory anyhow. The paint is not part of the compliance package or the warranty. Use acrylic enamels and they will be just fine. High temp paints work great too.

Not an answer for you Matt, just an opinion.
To me, that sort of thing is insulting your national flag. It's defaced by being incomplete, the one shown is dirty and tattered, and it's hidden underneath the helmet, out of sight.
Your country, your flag and your helmet. I suppose you'll do as you like.

Thank you for correcting my misconception that the addition of unauthorized paint to a helmet will not cause the warranty to be voided by a company. I GUESS TOO AS HE EXPRESSES IT IF PAINT MELTS AND DRIPS ON YOUR NECK IT IS OF NO IMPORTANCE. My bad.
