WICHITA FALLS, Texas - A volunteer firefighter in Texas has been charged with starting two wildfires - including a 2,000-acre blaze that caused severe burns to one of his colleagues.

Kyle Everett Harmon, 26, was charged Thursday with arson, a first-degree felony, in connection with a 2005 blaze in north Texas. He also was charged with a lesser count of arson in connection with a grass fire in Wichita County earlier this week.

Harmon, the son of the Cameron Gardens volunteer fire chief, remained jailed Friday on $1 million bond.

Harmon told authorities he started several grass fires - once because he was bored and knew he'd be called in to fight it. Court documents show that Harmon said he's been feeling shame for years for starting the blaze that injured his friend, who has since recovered.

OMG! I'm a white male. Does that mean there's a 50% chance that I could become an arsonist?
As a former Fire Marshall, I can tell you this happens way more you might think, he deserves no mercy and the son of the Fire Chief, ouch is right
its called drill body
hmmm... perhaps we should unwrap that question...

do you like fire?
do you like to play with fire?
do you like to watch fire burn?
do you like to put fire out?

do you find yourself bored?
do you feel like your town lacks adventure?

do you have motive... means... and opportunity???
We had a firefighter do this in Glenwood in the 90's... kid was son of so and so etc....
Started a church fire because he wanted to be seen as "the hero"..... so sad....
It' d sure be nice to read of stories of people acting to prove firefighters are MORE honorable as people than to show us off as derelicts! :(
And Jack? No surprise that you put in "Volunteer - check" as well.
