MAGNA, Utah - Officials say a 45-year-old Unified Fire Authority firefighter-paramedic was killed in a car crash while driving home from work, and the actions of the other driver are being investigated.

The Utah Highway Patrol says Bruce McGowan was on his way home to Midway when he died in the wreck on Interstate 80 near Parley's Summit about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers say the driver of a Jeep Cherokee lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and slammed into McGowan's Volkswagen Jetta.

The driver of the Jeep, a Murray man in his early 20s, was treated for minor injuries. His name wasn't made public.

Investigators say man reported drinking alcohol before the crash, but no charges were immediately filed.

If the other driver is found to have been over the limit, I hope he's charged with Second Degree MURDER! I dont think there is NO ONE on the North American Continent over the age of 14 who isn't aware that drinking and driving DONT MIX!!!

My condolences to the family and friends of the Firefighter/Paramedic... our jobs are hazardous enough without some idiot adding to the mix. May your pain go away quickly.....
