Hey All...Just wanted to try something a little different...and yes, I may use the results for a paper that I am writting for a class. I would like to know your coverage area.....Square miles....# of blocks...however you descibe the area that you are responsible for in Fire/EMS coverage. I know this will vary greatly as does the number of calls responding to each year...For example....I am in a small rural Department 44 members...we average 1.4 calls per day over the course of the year.....our coverage area is 218 square miles....Thanks....stay safe...Keep the Faith...........Paul
We cover about 560 sq. miles between 2 halls, with about 37 paid-per-call members and average about 200 calls per year. Mostly rural area as the town is covered by the town fire department.
14 sq.miles, 21,000 residents daytime of around 30-40,000
3 stations, 6 engines, truck, rescue, 2 supports and misc. cars
about 100 volunteers
1,000 calls, 107 of them where fires
mostly residential, a lot of commercial including a shopping mall and major centers,
warehousing and rail, 6 major routes, and TON of nursing homes and group homes including the biggest in the state with over 5,000 people in it
Paul,
Spokane covers 60 square miles. We have 14 stations, about 31,000 calls a year, EMS/Fire. That is about 85 a day for the whole city, our population is 205,000.
Well I work for the County of Strathcona and we cover approx 480 sq miles, and within its borders it contains Industrial, Rural, Urban, Forestry. Average about 8000 calls a year in all EMS/Fire/Rescue between 3 stations and a department staffing of approx 125 members. On average 21 calls per day. Population approx 88,000
Brigade - currently 40 volunteer members, no career. Calls per year - average 290, no EMS. Population covered - 19,000 - including automatic support area, probably 30,000. Area - no idea, odd shaped suburb in the State capital. Coverage effectively increases to the whole State for severe wildfire, we can be sent anywhere over the 237,000 sq kilometres (91,000 sq miles).
