slamming departments
Who here thinks that slamming other departments is ok? Cause the way i remember we all do this job to help people paid or volunteer!!! If one or more departments are having problems dont slam them for it try an help them out...we all need help in one way or another. Its not about who does what as long as the job gets done an everybody comes home in one piece an nobody dies in the process.cause you never know it might be your department one day who needs the help!!!!!

If you have "an issue" with another Department then you address that "issue" with that same Department...not in a public forum....we all have some short comings in one way or another...it just isn't right nor is it professional.....

You can't allow yourself to be drawn into a public dispute which will probably be as destructive as that departments perceived discrepancy . A mature discussion should be able to solve most difficulties , we all need to have each others backs.

One can find cooperative people and uncooperative people everywhere. Same with departments. Like these other posts have said, it's not cool to publicly criticize any department. Work out differences privately. Time heals all wounds.
Jeff, you are absolutely correct: You never know when you will need that department's help.

All I know is that when ever there is a pic or vid on here from a service/aggresive department there are always alot of people who start crying and slamming them, and quoting ridiculous NFPA GUIDELINES.

Agreed some departments seem to be a pain in the arse but things can be worked out.One department varies in the way they do things from yours which may be the issue and like said you can't go around bashing to friends ahings are getting better they just need to know they have a problem they might not even know

I agree and disagree.....How's that for politically correct...? LOL....Those same "ridiculous NFPA GUIDELINES" were written mostly because someone somewhere did something that got people killed....I don't agree with many of them but they are there to try and keep us from killing ourselves or others.....Aggressiveness is great and we practice to be aggressive with our probies/newbies (Less than 5 years in) But you are so to a point....you remember the risk/reward ideology.....

Not disagreeing with you, but the cold hard fact is that it won't happen- ever.
There's 50,000 members (which is only a small number compared to the numbers of members in the real world) here and many can do nothing more than come into a discussion, throw a "critical grenade" and walk away. Couple this with some of the members who push their own barrow, self promote their greatness but in reality offer no real insight when it comes to tactics and meaningful discussion.

Slamming and criticizing are definately too different things. Some can't tell the difference because after reading two or three words of a thread their blood starts to boil. You can't read body language or understand the senders tone from the typed word.
Then again, some people here think they know it all...

I have to chuckle when I hear one dept. say how they would handled a incident differant and better! I say we all might do things differant if done over, but we never get the chance as incidents and scenes change, so lets all look in the mirror and realize we are not perfect. We must learn to laugh at ourselfs. I really do belive our intentions are good.

Nothing is ridiculous about NFPA or IFSTA. they should both be standards we all fallow. Just saying!
