Where would you work?
I was asked this question last night by my brother, and have been unable to locate a forum on it and thats why I figured Id start one. But if anyone knows of a forum with this subject please let me know.
My brother asked me last night if I had my choice to work on the FD where would it be? He didnt want a specific city or town or anything just what type of department I would work for. No restrictions: For instance no tests or paramedic status or residence status or anything like that. Just where would you work if at the age you joined the fire service they said where do you want to go: city, town, rural, county or another type of department.
My answer was county or city.
Just want to see what other peoples choices would be.
But again if this forum has been started already please give me the title. Thank you

I was once given a few words of wisdom from a feller that usually does not have very much. "You live where you work or work where you live." I'll take the work around here thank you very much. This is to say rural/town or the 1 "city" with 10,000 people.

Im with Matthew on this one, I love working in my small town. I know a good portion of the residents and most know me at least by face if not name ( OK a lot call me the Fire Lady). Sure every now and then I think about moving back to Philadelphia and work in a "big city" again, then I remember why I left there in the first place. Besides there is something to be said for running a call and a few days later when you are in the gas station, getting an update from the patient or a family member, it takes care from a single 20-30 minute run to a full circle of community health/fire care

Right there with you Olivia. To be born here move away to College and come back here to make a carreer of the fire service knowing most everyone here and being known is a very special honor. and Yes Matthew, much to be said about your statement. SOOO True!
