I start a week long 40hr Haz Mat Tech class monday through friday of next week. I've got a copy of the IFSTA Hazardous Materials for the
First Responder 3rd
Edition and study guide. I'm just trying to get a head start and "re"familiarize myself with the subject. Anyone have any suggested websites and/or books to review. I'll be taking my IFSAC certification test on the 30th of this month so I just want to make sure I get the most out of my time both in the class and out so that I ace my test. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Fourty hours? Feel lucky, my class went well over 80 hours.

Not sure what your class will cover in only 40 hours, but good advise would be to study up on your HAZMAT Operations first. Go over basic stuff like Chemistry, LEL, UEL, IDLH, STEL, PEL, conversion factors, meters, and stuff like that. You should also start some advanced reading through the textbook your class will be using.
my class was 200 hours and 60 hours of Confined space.
An IFSAC certification after a 40-hour class is unusual.

80-hour classes or even 160-hour classes prior to IFSAC hazmat technician certification testing is the norm.

I'd double check if the class qualifies as an IFSAC precursor were I you.
It was actually 120hrs long they broke it up into 40hrs for the intial tech class, 40hrs chem A, 20hrs chem B, and 20hrs site ops. It was a great class, I've got way more respect for the chemicals and hazards that we come into contact with now.
Right? same when I finished
Richard we used that same book. I took the class already and passed my ifsac tech test. Thanks for everyones responses.
