What are the benefits of using a nasopharyngeal airway on a pediatric patient?

Hmm, good one. I am taking my NREMT-B, so I may find this thread helpful at sometime or another. The only thing I could think of being a benefit is that with a nasal airway you will not risk "tearing" if you will, the ped's roof of mouth and or throat, also you will not gag the pt. Any advice is welcome, please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks all and thank you Loyd for starting this discussion.
