I need information on how to get a grant for my EMT basic course any help ?
Does any one know a grant I can apply for to use to get my EMT- Basic course paid for. I live in Texas and trying to get my EMT Basic but funding it kind of tuff to get. Can anyone help me with this ?

Here in New York, if you are a member of an ambulance or first responder agency, either the department or the state will pay for training. That is, as long as you complete the class.
Can't say what it is like in Texas, whether there are volunteer ambulance agencies around or not. If there are, look into one of those as a possibility.

I am a member of a volunteer Fire Department but they arent aware of any grants. So I figured I reach out and see whats out there

I am confused. Does your fire department not have the funds to pay for this training or do they just not want to pay for it for some reason or another. I am not sure how much that course costs in Texas, but in PA it is inexpensive.

How much does the course cost? A simple fundraiser could probably cover these costs if they are not budgeted by your chief through your fire district budget. I did notice that the majority of your members now are EMT's, how did they get their training paid for, maybe you could find out where they got funding for thier class from. I did take note that the company would provide medical training according to it's website.

Well Robert, it sounds like your department does not offer emergency medical services to the community, is that correct?
If that is the case, perhaps you are interested in getting your EMT certification for more personal reasons as in landing a job in the EMS field. If that is the case I guess I can't blame the FD for not fronting the money. And I don't think a "grant" would be available for one individual to take a class.
Might be different if the entire department wanted to, though.
Again, here in NY the cost of someone taking the EMT-B class is about $800 including books which is covered by the agency you are affiliated with. If one does not complete the class the student, not the department, pays for the class.

no I want to do volunteer work and also be a Texas state Commissioned Firefighter IandII but inorder to be state commissioned you have to be a EMT and well as complete a Firefighter Iand II course

most of our guys had paid for it first then they were returned what they paid. Also we have no ESD board members.

Hey, If you're working, go for a credit card,take the course, then pay it off with the reimbursement. Just a thought.

I took mine through trainingdivision.com and I think they have a payment plan It will cost you to do your skills and clinicals but its worth it.

Jessie is right that is how i got mine i got layed off back in jan of last year whent down and talked to the unemployment office and asked what kind of help i could get to go back to school but you have got to ask thay will not vol. any info on this if that offer it at all
