More Solar Tiles
Here is another roof that you could come up on anywhere.
These tiles are solar tiles. These tiles do hold electric and feed it to the meter and the house.
Some information I have found states that at night they are relatively safe since there is no solar power to create the electricity. But I would still be cautious.
Just be careful with these roofs. You would hate to sink a chain saw, K-12 or an ax into this roof if it is energized.
Be careful and stay safe. Have someone check the meter for any placard-like stickers or kill switches for these types of systems.

In this sort of situation, being that the roofing structure is essentially an electrical sytem, would it be a better practice to rely upon cross ventillation on the upper most floor or continue with a 4x4 in the roof? We don't have this type of roof structure on any home in our first due, however, with the price of electricity rising I would expect them to start popping up more and more...Have you or anyone else experienced this type of senario, and if so, what was the outcome?

I personally have not run into this, but I know we have some "normal" raised solar panels and the word I am getting is that there is more interest in these types of alternate energy sources. The way I understand it to work is that there is a transfer switch at the main panel or meter. It should identify how to shut it off. What I am not sure of is if the panels are still charged or not when you do that.
I am in the process of setting up a meeting with an engineering school that is local that builds and races solar powered cars across the country. I am going to bring these topics up and see what they have to offer and ultimately, I would like to build a prop of some sort to practice on this type of roof.
I will pass on what I learn.

we have a fire/medic on our crew that has panels on his house; according to him the power that is in the panels is so low that it would not harm you, the power is collected is very low and has to be ran through an inverter to get it up to a useable power. I would still check for verification from a manufacturer though.
