Actually once you get the hang of it it works pretty good. Its a different concept from what most of were trained to do.

i have tried it in training and it works great ihave also used other tools sledge hammer halligan. they also work good

Yes, I have tried this and it works very good. We also carry different tools that work well too(i.e. sledge hammer, splitting maul, Denver tool). We have not mandated which tool to carry, different members feel comfortable with different tools.
