Scott NxG2. Big upgrade from Suprise Air. Packs that we didn't use were out of service all of the time and you always have to replace o-rings for routine maint. which gets expensive compared to Scott's if it ain't broke don't fix it. We are noticing spidering of face piece lens as of this week though and fires haven't been that hot. No flashover simulator or anything. Haven't seen any press releases from Scott that it's happening to anybody else either. Had them in service for quite a while. We were 3rd in OH to have the new face pieces. You have to look at some of them just right in the light to notice or run finger nail across them. They are heavier as well but a nice tight waist strap makes it all okay.
At both of my departments, we use Scott and I love them. I have used MSA at my prior department and I prefer Scott simply for their ease of operations and "user friendliness." Whatever SCBA you decide to use, just be sure to be trained properly and learn all of it's uses and limitiations.
