Mine didn't but I know of a few. LAFD has one per shift. They are sworn personnel and wear their renk helmet color. SDFD has a civilian PIO who answers directly to the chief. He has a white helmet.

We have a pr officer he is also our safety officer. He wears a orange helmet with safety off markings on it

I wear a yellow helmet (same as our firefighters) with PIO in large reflective letters. When not wearing turnouts I wear a very bright reflective vest that identifies me as PIO.

we don't have one but we do need one. Every Department should have someone who can talk to the press so things don't get misconstrued, which often happens as civilians are not familiar to what we do.
