FARGO, N.D. - Fargo's fire chief says he's been trying to hire a woman firefighter for several years and he's pleased that it's finally happening.

Dawn Stollenwork has been working as a part-time jailer in Moorhead, Minn. She's joining the Fire Department on Aug. 24.

The 32-year-old Stollenwork (stahl'-en-work) is a mother of two from Reiles (RY'-lees) Acres, north of West Fargo. She was hired as a firefighter after applying three times. She said the physical agility test is difficult.
