How many structure fires have you been inside?

I was wondering how many fires you guys have been inside of sense becoming a interior firefighter. I have been in 4 fires and have been interior for just about 3 yrs. 3 of which were this year. This is not a contest either. Haha.

I have no idea, but if I was to guess, I would say over 1000, and under 2000, and still going.

BEEN IN THE FIRE SERVICE ALMOST 7 YEARS NOW...KINDA LOST COUNT. LARGEST WAS WHEN THE GENERAL'S BUILDING BURNT DOWN AT MCAS CHERRY POINT THE LAST ONE THAT WE HAD WAS BACK IN MARCH

Ive been on for going on 6 years in October of this year. I would have to guess i have been in somewhere between 13-17 give or take a few. We have averaged a call a day or better for the last few years but not a whole lot of real workers.

Six total was first entry nozzle on two and officer on the other four

I think that you will find while some of these guys boast numbers even over 1000 that indeed most of us have been to a lot of fires, however not everyone operates inside on every fire every time. Even then, were they inside putting the fire out or were they inside doing overhaul after the fire was out.

You asked about being inside.

When I was reading this post all I could imagine in my mind was 20-40 firefighters fighting over the nozzle while the fire burns away.

Sure there are other jobs inside other than putting the wet stuff on the red stuff (overhaul, vent, search, salvage, etc.). But not everyone makes it in during the firefight. After the fire is out shouldn't count should it.

I drive a fire engine, therefore I usually pump or assist with water supply in some form or fashion. I can tell you from experience that there are plenty of guys working on the outside while the guys inside are doing their jobs. Whether you are the IC, medical, on the hydrant, pumping, operating a ladder truck, throwing ladders, Rapid Intervention Crew, ventilating, forcing entry, or whatever else and don't make it in you are a valuable piece to the puzzle

Just don't get frustrated if you end up with an outside job while your brothers are inside fighting fire. ALL jobs on the fire ground are important!

JUST DON'T BE A YARD BREATHER!

Since you asked though, I have been on the job a while now and have been to many fires. I have not kept track of how many or what I did on each but I have some great stories and have gotten a lot of experience. Oh yeah....and there have been the mistakes too!!!!

iv been in the fire service for 8 years now, been inside maybe 15-20 fires. of that i would say i was nozzle maybe 7or 8 times.

I was only in one so far then we pulled out and did a defensive attack because the fire was hidden we had to let it burn up through the roof in order to find it but we did save the house and everything worked out fine with jus smoke and water damage.

This is an interesting topic. Lets see, I did 20 years, I went into every fire I was allowed to, um, I don't know but I am guessing into the hundreds easily. Never really counted them. Some in my own town, many in many other towns/cities. Interior is where the action is at so I would not have wanted it otherwise.

Retirement is cool but I do miss the rush some days.

well i have been a firefighter for about 10 years joined as a cadet, but been able to go in for about 3 years now and i have been in about 16 interior attacks!

In my 18 years as a firefighter, I never counted so I would have no idea. 4 this year that I know of.
