i took the foam pad and ratchet strap out of mine and i think it fits a lot better...never tried to take it apart to hide the earflaps though

I did take the foam pad out of the netting. It makes the helmet ride much lower on your head, and it fits much better. Seems to feel more secure. I took out my rachet adjuster, so it made the helmet a little too big. So I fold the ear flaps up into the helmet, and that also makes it fit better.

My curent Sam has foam pad removed and ratchet removed as well.. It fits much better than my old New Yorker I wore for the past 12 yrs.

I removed the foam pad, the ratchet, and the ear flaps. I know it's not NFPA or OSHA compliant, but neither am I. LOL
