Can a male who has been with the department a while please explain to me the code that says you can't say "I love you" on the phone in front of the guys because you will appear weak? Is that for real?
May be it's not the code ... Maybe he just does not want to say it..Some guys feel they should not have to say it you should know already, and why do you need to hear it twenty times a day... This is not a problem in just fire houses this is just a plain man problem.... I myself hate to say twenty times a day.. I love you... Should be enough...... It did not change thru out the day.... But overall I'm not like others.. Been Married 15 years ... Why do I need to hear it more than once a day....lol But thats just me.
I think that actions speak louder than words, as I tell my wife dozens of times. We agree that our actions towards each other and the respect and admiration we display means a lot more than repeating "I love you" after every phone conversation we have. Maybe your mans actions are telling you something? Just confront him in a nice way, sit down and tell it to him straight..."I feel that your in-ability to say I love you in front of the guys is sending me the wrong message." It doesnt have to be an argument, just talk it out.
sorry but the guys at the dept. i'm at tells their wife i love you when they call. even the training officer has a ring call set to his phone says the wife is calling. in call we get to say hi wife. i thing it's just guys don't want to be the weaker one in front of their fellow firefighter. as you know we all try to act the strongest so we don't get made fun of. so i just don't know if it's were you are but the guys have no codes at the station were i'm at.
