(AP) MEDFORD, Ore.

Medford firefighters were called to free a teenager whose scheme to pry open the garage door of an empty house with a car jack collapsed on him.

So did the door. The 17-year-old boy escaped injury but now faces trespassing charges.

His mother saw his legs sticking out from under the garage door at a neighbor's house after she discovered he was not at home early Monday morning. She called 9-1-1 when she was unable to free him.

Medford police Detective Sgt. Mike Budreau said the teen had planned to break into the vacant house.
