hey what kind of turnout gear do juniors (explorers) get in other stations. im junior chief i have a cairns 1044 (that i bought on my own) helmet our helmets have to have blue tetrahedions-securatex turnout gear-and pro warrington leather boots. what do u have.. whats your opinions
As a junior.... I got brand new Quaker Saftey gear with my name on the back of it... ThoruoghGood leather boots...and a N5A New yorker (natural leather) that i bought on my own
I just got brand new gear its the classic yello with reflective stripes. It also has the new man down strap. Im the only junior of my department, and i have to wear a blue helmet for the Elizabeth Twp. FD
the junior's at my station just get gear that has been used before the regular members got new stuff, it is all still in good condition. they also get Cairns 1010 helmets, and whatever boots in the closet that will fit. They have orange tets, and an orange shield that says junior, as well as JR on the back of the helmet. But aside from the specific Junior recognition things, it is the same stuff that all our probies get. Until any of our ffs are certified to be interior, we all get the orange tets, while the interior guys get yellow. it's a quick way to tell the difference between who should be going in and who shouldn't.
At my department we use the same gear as everyone else (ours is a little older), we can also buy our own gear if we want. We use morning pride gear and it is tan, some of our jackets are older and are yellow but we are getting new gear soon. For helmets we have Bullard, i hope to get a Cairns 1010.
Our juinors get yellow or black turnout gear because the seinor members wear brownish gear rubber boots and a yellow salad bowl or they can buy their own helmet that must be either yellow or black with a company supplied orange leather front that says juinor firefighter most of the gear they use are hand downs from seinor members
