Anyone working as 911 operator, dispatcher or anything like that?

Anyone on FFN who is/has been working as 911 operator, dispatcher or anything like that?
What's the funniest/craziest/so on call you've received?

I've spend a couple of months working with receiving calls, raising the alarm, and so on, while being a firefighter-conscript..

I work as an EMD every once in awhile. Several years ago, I had a lady call an accident in. She was hysterical and screaming. When she finally calmed down enough to answer questions, she advised that they were about to hit "him". I asked several times who was about to be hit and she finally said it was a prairie dog that had ran into traffic on a heavily traveled street. She stops her car on the right hand side of the road and runs into the middle lane to block traffic. She continues to scream and yell and begins to cry. I finally talked her into getting back into her car and stop risking her life to save this varmit. I ended the conversation by telling her to have a good day. I then heard her shreik and start crying. The prarie dog got hit by a car. She was crying and all I could do was hang up.

I work as an 911 EMD.. If asked to make a list of My most stupid calls I would have you a dictionary by the end of the month lol..

One of My particular favorites is a guy who is a regular caller. When he calls he always wants to talk to the Sheriff .. and I try to explain to him that the Sheriff is not in the Comm center. He then wants the Sheriffs Cell and home number and upon asking why He always says that somebody has hijacked the federal satellite system and are using it to kill his wife and to fry his testicles.

First time hearing this I almost fell out of the hot seat laughing.. Then I got to thinking , in this guys mind this is a reality and I sort of got a Gut check after 3 years on the job.. There are some crazy people in this world!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is your emergency?
Caller: I heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the brown house on the corner.
Dispatcher: Do you have an address?
Caller: No, I have on a blouse and slacks, why?
