Any ways of transferring a non-us firefighter-certificate to the US?
I can see that the education I have is on the same level as "firefighter 2" (some things are higher, and some things I haven't been taught), but my education contains ALL the parts of firefighter 1.
Any way of transferring this/getting some kind of credit for it?
Same question, only about EMT-B...?
Got a couple of questions about IFSAC to..
Normally my English is quite good for everyday use, but either I'm just plain stupid or there's to many fancy words at IFSAC's website :-)
I'd like to sometime move to the US, and then it would be quite fun to work as a firefighter..
As I understand it IFSAC is a way for firefighters to move their FF-certificates between states, and I can see that there are also some non-US countries that are members.
Can a single person apply for getting a IFSAC certificate?
Sune, it is primarily up to the State training divisions of each state. In Oregon you can apply what you have and working with them come up with similar training certificates . So you would have to contact each State to see how you fit into their system.
Does anyone know what states are more open certifying then others?
Right now it's just about getting a foot in the door, and then the rest can follow :)
I have a 450 hours education in Denmark, covering everything from Firefighting, Rescue, Communications, and first aid on a level about EMT-B, and have been a volunteer firefighter for 4 years.
