A lot of volunteer departments out there run on a shoestring budget , others do are right. While many of you may not know exact details, if you have a general idea of what your budget is and where it comes form it would be interesting to see. If you can include an approximate call volume that would be a way to try and normalize the data.

annual data runs : 80 total budget: $110,000 state :75% county tax :20% grants :5%
NM state collects funds from insurance companies that operate in the state and then distribute about 1/2 that to FDs based on their ISO ratings

On our Volunteer Fire Dept. in the Philippines, our funds came thru our pockets, sad to say but the Philippine Government does not support the Filipino Fire-Rescue Volunteers. Thats life!!! stay safe at all times sir!!
My department is funded by 2 Emergency Services Districts, 8 cents per 100 tax valuation, 1/2% sales tax, plus donations and EMS collections. Annual calls avg. >900, and right at or a little over 1/2million year budget. ISO 4/8b
We get a budget from the town, then do various fund raisers like fill the boot, pasta dinner, the annual auction, and let other organizations host things in the fire house. The other thing we do is send our a mailing asking for donations.
My dept runs off township taxes that generate about 110,000 annually. Occasionally we might get a donation for service. We put in for grants every years and the last one we recieved was in 2001, for new extrication equipment. We have a social association that does fund raisers once a quarter and brings in about 5,000 annually. With the association fund we do purchase things for the dept and then it becomes township property.
