Many believe that a fire truck should be RED.
Why?
Why is red the magic color?
How was it chosen as the color of the fire service?
Are there colors out there that have been proven to be more visible?

Haha. I have no problem with yellow. The few that I have seen that are yellow (in Hawaii and at Airports) Ive been impressed with.

Ya, the white's different but like I said, makes us unique. lol
I have been in 3 depts and 1 dept was yellow !! and as far as I am concerned , it has to be YELLOW with a gold stripe. But the red is okay .
Art,

Really I do not know. If you look at stats it shows that red vehicles are involved in the most accidents. I just don't understand. I've seen firetrucks many differnt colors. Got me on that one.
My dept has white trucks, according to them and history white has always been easier to see, especially in low light conditions such as night dusk or other times, i believe red was used because it would stand out. Go out for a run, take a look around and how many things are big and red, there really arent that many. My impression would be because of that.
Red is also the color that represents courage. And besides.....toilets are white, not fire trucks........hehehehehe
