I know that FireFighters dont do it for the money but i dont understand why do actors who Just ACT get millions of dollers a movie when Firefigheter dont get anythign for saving a life. Or even sports stars get millions to catch a ball. I am not going to be Firefighter for money i am doing it because i feel it is for me.

Joey, your questions have been reasonable up till now. This one? Forget it mate, welcome to the world.
What is that supposed to mean like forget its just how the world is or stop asking questions.
Joey, one of the great mysteries of life. Kinda like which came first the chicken or the egg
Ya i guess i personally think it is bull but hey im just one guy
Yeah, the fire service is relatively thankless. There are a few people that will thank you for what you do, but not alot. If you think about it, who is going to come up to us and ask for an autograph? Actors and sports stars perform. People are willing to shell out money to see these stars perform. When you sellout a stadium with a 20,000 person capacity getting about $50 per ticket (at least), or you sell 200 tickets to a movie per night, you can afford to pay for the big names that will keep selling the tickets. At least those stars perform for the money, the ones making the real big money are the ones that own the companies that are paying them. Now, you can't sell tickets to the fighting of a fire, cutting someone out of a car or whatever other job you wish to name that we do. Even if you could, people probably wouldn't pay to watch. Before I go any further, I'm simply putting out a hypothetical situation to make a comparison. People say things like "well that's what they're here for", or "they're just doing their job" and in reality it is and we are. When Roethlisberger leads a last minute drive down the field to win the Super Bowl though, people say he's a star and don't look at that as him just doing his job or doing what he's there to do. Again, it all comes down to what people are willing to pay to see.
Pretty simple: ENTERTAINERS verse SERVANTS

One gets paid alot to entertain and the other serve the highly paid ones...
Hey Joey look around you my friend.. Does anything in this world make sence ..Acotrs that the main word ,money the next..What more do you need to know my friend.......
Ya i know seriously. I think it is rediculous
We get "perks" here. Free EMS and Fire calls for your house/person. LOL Not to mention the look in kids eyes when they say "MY DADDY IS A FF" that is worth about $1,000,000 to me anyday. I do this to help and serve not to boost my retirement fund.
Yo Joe, Actors and athletes and drivers are all entertainers. Millions pay to be entertained. We do not entertain. As we might be hard pressed to do thier work, they certainly would have a problem volunteering to do ours. Ours is a much higher calling with even greater rewards. Keep the faith Brother.
Joey? "What is that supposed to mean like forget its just how the world is or stop asking questions." Yes, it's how the world is. There are many anomalies in how people are paid for the work they do.

Do I mean for you to stop asking questions? No, not at all. But think about the questiuon, is it going to really add anything? Is it going to provoke meaningful discussion? If you do the thinking, and want to post a thread, go ahead - my opinion is just that, one opinion.
I get paid, but even if i didnt, knowing I have effected someones life, their familys life and their friends Is enough. If you saw a man drowning, would you ask for cash before saving him?? You'd just do it, and I figure If your a vollie, its much the same. Do it for yourself, the people you help and for your community.
