I have just stepped into (appointed to) the elected sec/treas position of a very small fire district in Arizona. I'd like to find an attorney other than the county attorney to get the straight scoop on the deliniation of responsibilities, duties, etc. of the elected chief and the sec/treas. Any suggestions??
hello you left out a couple important issues here is this a volunteer department and is it a commisioned department if it is a commisioned department then they will be the ones to talk to be it that they are the ones overseeing both positions and wether commisioned or not you should have by lays they lay out the responsibilities if no by laws go to the previous sec/trea. and ask what their duties were and do the same with the chief if its that small of a department they should be able to tell you and also an attorney for fire depts. can only give you a general idea of what they should be but all departments can set the titles and the respon.of each title
