Well it's that time of year here in SC, the time of year that the days are warmer, the birds are singing, and the smell of burning brush fills the air. The temprature is in the 70's and 80's, the humidity is below 20% and the winds are blowing no less than 12 mph, gusting to god only knows, and the people can't wait to burn the brush piles they've spent all winter building. So to all my fellow FF's good luck and stay safe during the SILLY SEASON.

Got the same thing going on here in East Texas and without a burn ban. You're right it is the Silly Season. TCSS
Only the Govener in SC can issue a burning ban, Forestry can only caution aginst burning. Makes sense to me. LOL
can't beat all the ice storm damege this year in awer neck of the woods wating for the snow to melt maby one or two snow storms left and wera gona get upper 50 tomarow we will see all things in a red glow
Ah yes, sport burning. Good thing there's still snow on the ground or we be chasing grass fires. Got to love job security.
John, thats how it is here year round. :) Naw! actually 3/4's of the year anyhow. We had a week or so of cold weather and rain. Then back to weather in the 70's. This week has been off and on. But! flowers are blooming, birds are singing and people are burning. Hey! its what makes the world turn!
Texas is too big and leaves it to the counties to impose the bans. TCSS
Ours in Ohio is Mulch fire season and we got some time before that happens. Be Safe Brother

Heard the first brush response this year, thus begining our silly season here in Crawford county Pa. yesterday. Our brush truck is ready to roll!!
We just had one yesterday with 2 mulch piles involved. Can't be too far off for you. We are maybe 45 mins to an hour away from the Indiana/Ohio line
they r already hitting hard in pa
They are hitting hard in South east Georgia. I really don't think they stop since the monster in 2007.
Gonna break 70 in West-Central Ohio Saturday for the first time this year. I am sure we are about to start seeing the idiots here. Just hope we don't start getting the BIG field fires we have in the past. I hat it when you have 2 large ones going in neighboring jurisdictions at the same time and by the time you get your 3 brush truck assigned you hear it is coming from 25 minutes away because everyone closer is alread on the way to one of the two.
